Hello my stitching friends!
I think Spring has finally arrived in western Pennsylvania ... we are playing baseball (c'mon Pirates, can this be the year?!!); the daffodils, although not yet blooming, are surfacing; the birds are singing; the pair of Canadian geese that always nests on our neighborhood pond are back; the sun is shining; and I am a happy, happy girl!
My available time for stitching has been a little hit-and-miss lately, but I've been making some progress on my "Sarah Stuart" that I am stitching as part of The Scarlet Letter Year.
The area that I am concentrating on now are the two large trees that frame the big red house ... I have the one on the left started.
These trees are stitched freehand using the stem stitch ... a little daunting for me! I was never an "A" student in art classes and my lack of artistic abilities haunts me to this day. But I am determined to at least get an "A" for effort and to conquer my hesitation to stitch certain samplers because of the freehand stitching involved. So although my trees may only make a C+ or B- grade, onward I go!
So that's about it for now. Hope Spring is showing herself in your neighborhood too! I have to say, this time of year with the Easter holiday is a delightful time for me!
As always, thank you for taking the time to stop by ... until next time ....
God Bless!

OH wow! Sarah is so stunning! It's funny how some samplers just speak to you right?! Well this gal speaks to me. I think you are an A student! Your stem stitch is perfect! Did you lightly draw on your fabby with pencil to follow the lines or free hand it? I think I would need some sort of guide in order to do what you did!
ReplyDeleteLanie, I'm in love with Sarah Stuart, thanks t your progress posts! Keep up the diligence with those darn trees -they're looking great so far. Surface embroidery intimidates me too....
ReplyDeleteLanie I think that you arecan A student as well. Miss Sarah is looking wonderful. You have doneca great job with your trees.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a pretty sampler. I'm sure that your trees are going to look wonderful. You'll definitely get an A for effort - it does seem daunting to do that stitch.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Lanie! I love the colors in this beautiful sampler! I may need to stitch this one as we come from the Stuarts in Scotland. My sons both have Stuart as one of their middle names.
ReplyDeleteLanie, I love the colors in this sampler, they are just beautiful. I would give you an "A" plus just for attemping the freehand trees, lol. So, there you have passed as far as I'm concerned!! All kidding aside, you are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the great stitching.
ReplyDeleteI recently had an encounter with freehand stitches and I think yours look great. Very nice work.
ReplyDeleteSooooo beautiful! Your freehand looks great too! It's your fault that I had to buy the chart, you know. lol!
ReplyDeleteYay for spring!! And wow, this is a beautiful sampler!! Your freehand looks spot on to me!
ReplyDeleteIt is a very cute sampler...
ReplyDeleteLots of love for you x
Lanie, your Sarah is looking great! I think the tree looks fantastic. I would be very nervous to do freehand since I've never had to do that before! You did a great job. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning sampler, Lanie!! Your work is beautiful and so is our weather here in southwestern PA--hope it continues :)
